will i lose muscle if i do cardio? and how do i lose fat around my stomach and chest?

March 31st, 2010 | by admin |

ok, so i am a 16 year old guy. 5 foot 4. 132 pounds. I lift weights about 6 times a week and do cardio every night (about 3 miles a night of walking/jogging). i also do situps 3 times a week, but i can’t seem to get a six pack no matter how hard i try. So my plan is to do a lot more cardio, but if i do a lot more cardio, will i lose muscle and strength? and is there a way to lose fat without losing strength?

My current diet is

Monday-Friday– Breakfast: banana, cup of milk, and 3 slices of turkey
Lunch: apple, cheese stick, turkey sandwich, 5 slices of turkey, and a carton of milk
Dinner: usually some sort of meat (ie: burgers, steak, chicken, etc), potatoes, and milk

Saturday-Sunday– Breakfast: 2 eggs, two pieces of toast, and a cup of milk
Lunch: Some sort of fruit, turkey sandwich, and cup of milk
Dinner: usually some kind of chicken or steak, and rice, with a cup of milk

So i guess my question is, will i have to lose a lot of muscle and do a lot more cardio in order to get a six pack? and is my current diet good or bad???

Thank you for the answers

if u do not want to lose muscle.. make sure your protein is very high… u are eating enough food…. and always have plenty of protein before and after workouts…

u will not burn muscle the way u are doing it.. u burn carbs first.. then u burn fat .. then if u are not getting enough nutrients.. u burn muscle..

and take some vitamins…

even if u do lose some mass.. u will be more so lean mass afterwards.. and keep lifting heavy.. so your muscles stay dense…

eat vegetables!!!! they are the best thing for you
    wholemeal bread too
and drink plenty of water….about 70% of the body is made up of water! so you need it for becoming muscley.
press ups are good…and maybe try to join a sports team for that extra bit of running around
you know..the KEY thing to getting proper muscle is eating the correct amount..and muscley people need A LOT more food than the not so muscley.
so make sure you eat plenty of fruit/veg/wholemeal bread and drink lots of water.
