How can i maintain, lose weight and keep a specified exercise program during winter?

March 2nd, 2010 | by admin |

I don’t like gyms and i’m too shy to go in one because people there are fit and muscly than myself. I have lost 20 kgs (46 lbs) over the past 6 months. I need to lose 10 more kgs (22 lbs) to reach my goal weight. But since it is winter where i am i want to be able to exercise, maintain and lost weight without having to use any gym equipment or go to the gym. What can i simply do?

I’ve never used a gym and never had trouble being able to exercise on my own. Not sure what the weather is like where you are, but if you can get outdoors you can run or walk. That’s possible even in Winter here.

If you must stay indoors, then workout with dumbbells for strength training and do aerobics videos/workouts for your cardio. There are tons of DVDs and videos you can purchase or look in youtube and watch workout videos there for free. I bought the P90X workout program off ebay and found it to be a really good mix of cardio and strength training, to be done indoors. You need dumbbells or resistance bands for the strength training days…a pull up bar or resistand bands are also needed for the workouts that do pullups/chinups.

Good luck!

Hi my husband has a sports science degree. Movement is very important to lose weight, but muscle burns fat too. You could buy/ hire an indoor exercise bike. Walking is very important just keep warm, waterproof clothing etc. Research online or borrow books from the library to put together a home gym. Get some exercise DVD’s make sure your happy with your winter routine because next winter you’ll need to follow it again.

I’m going to guess you are in Australia lol

Don’t be shy about joining a gym, they are not all muscly. The gym I go to are your average Janes and Joes and there are only a handful of people I know there who are big muscly people.

If you are still unsure about the gym, why don’t you join a group class, like boot camp? They are so much fun, for people of different fitness levels and gets you going. My personal trainer recommends this one… http://www.bootcamp.com.au

You could also hire a personal trainer, bit pricey I know, but they will make up a program for you and help you. It’s my best $80 a week for two sessions I spend

I’ve also got these websites I go to for advice… Hope I;ve helped :P

    Howdy,

I’ve got the proper answer for your unique case, read along.

Everybody wants to look their best and what better way than to go on a lose weight. Losing weight can be a boring experience but it is important to avoid boredom at all costs. That way you stay focused. The other important thing is to have the drive to lose weight. Go ahead and find something that will motivate you. Visualize yourself succeeding and then actually take action. It is that easy.

So in order to lose weight and look great you need to diet correctly. Do this by eating healthier foods. You may want to cut back your calorie intake but not to the point where you feel out of energy and hungry all the time. To avoid hunger you should eat frequently so that you stay satisfied all day. This technique also boosts your metabolism so that you burn more fat and feel better. Eat clean foods that are not high in fat and sugar. Consume foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, and lean meats.

Start a work out program so that you burn more calories. Try to get at least twenty minutes of exercising in each day. You can also take a day off each week. I find it is easier to Work out during the week days and then take the weekend off. Just start working out slowly and then progress. Once you get in shape it will be much easier to burn off more calories. Dieting to lose weight does not have to be a boring task.

All the best, and do let us know how it goes!

High intensity for 3 minutes with a high protein diet will turn your fat into muscle (assuming you have any?).

Once you have toned up and evened out then you need to look at getting your fat content down to below 15% to allow an easier control of your weight.

You can get hold of some bands which are great for explosive work and you can do it at home.

    I hope this helps.
